So I went to Download at Donnington Park. Traffic was dreadful and I was so disappointed to miss the very band I wanted to see – Them Crooked Vultures with Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters – gutted! The pain was that we were last car in the carpark and last tent on the campsite. So to get from car to venue was I reckon a mile at least then a further 2 miles to the campsite… I was knackered and my son too (carrying tent, food, bags etc), but the lure of loud music kept us going and we had a fantastic weekend. Highlights: AC/DC, Slash, Motorhead, The Blackout, Rage Against the Machine – my fav surprise find was a band called Flyleaf who where fab! Worst moment (apart from missing Dave Grohl) was hiding in the ‘z’ list tent venue listening regrettably to the most dreadful ‘gwoar’ screaming thrash band, whose vocalist sounded like what I can only refer to a flushing drain. The last night it rained and past experience dictates leave early and avoid the mud slide car park. So home safe after a full on rock weekend. Next year Glastonbury!
